Advertisements for Mystery Shoppers
How many times have you read advertisements and sales pitches like the examples below?

GET FREE PRODUCTS AND RECEIVE A PAYCHECK FOR YOUR TIME |
Those are just some of what you probably have seen posted that saturate the Internet and Marketplace.
Are there real jobs that pay you to shop and eat out at restaurants, rent movies, go bowling and buy clothes to mention just a few?
Can you be paid $10 to $45 to go to the Mall and shop including eat at one of your favorite restaurants?
Maybe you would enjoy seeing a movie, or bringing the kids to the amusement park, or would you and your husband enjoy a spending some time at the golf course?
Can you make a full-time income from Mystery Shopping?
Is this too good to, really, be true?
ANSWERS AND COMMENTS -
The advertisements are true, but there are details involved with Mystery Shops that easily misinterpret any of the above example advertisements.
Of course, I believe ads of this type purport to mislead the person interested in becoming a Mystery Shopper.
It seems as though the general information provided at a cost of $25 may not be worth more than $4 or $5.
If, however, instead of general instructions it is an actual training course by a certified instructor, then the cost should be of value.
The important fact is that you should research what you intend to purchase if the cost is more than $7 to $10.
Review the information included in the book/ebook, course, guide or certification purchase along with its cost.
Compare the cost and reasonable knowledge offered from the product.
You can obtain a list of Mystery Shopping Companies on the Internet; or you can complete a search on Google, and you can learn what Mystery Shopper companies are hiring in your area.
Now, I speak directly to the reader, be cautious in regards to the key word ‘HIRING’. Mystery Shopping is self-contracting assigned positions and do not involve; except in very rare cases actual employment.
Another important factor is you must be prepared to invoice for your services and wait until you receive payment and reimbursements.
This most assuredly requires you to pay money out prior to your reimbursements and compensation.
It seems I never read about your money layout prior to earnings and reimbursements in the adverts.
Probably for the reason it is not good for a sales offering.
I can honestly say that I have been very familiar with Mystery Shopping since 1999.
I know you can earn money, you can receive reimbursements for purchases and free-gifts can accompany many of your assignments.
Nonetheless, you must pay for your lunches, dinners, movies, travels, cruises and expensive item tags prior to any reimbursements.
As an important heads up, travel packages, cruises and expensive item tag shops are not so easy to obtain.
Additionally, some reports are time consuming. The more money you can earn from a ‘Shop’, the more information you will have to provide to the hiring company. The more details you report, the more time it takes to complete your comments and answers.
Therefore, you could consider more $10 and $15 Mystery Shopping audits taking less time to do and less time to complete reports.
Unless, of course, you are able to sign up for some Focus and Survey Groups which pay a great deal more.
The standard pay for Focus and Survey Groups normally start at $50 and up to $125.
However, (believe me), these are assignments many shoppers go after and sign-up to complete.
So what type of information should you consider purchasing?
Firstly, you should never consider purchasing information, book, or manual to obtain Mystery Shopping Company Names only. This information is available for free, on many Internet sites . You can Google Mystery Shopping Companies” and obtain your list of names without cost.
However, if you are interested in learning more about the types of Mystery Shops, Certifications, details regarding reports and the overall Secret Shopping Industry then you should look for the following comments and information in the advertised offer:

Some Comments on Requirements;
Mystery Shopping is a specialized field and requires dependable, reliable and trustworthy shoppers.
Additionally, you must enjoy writing; as this is the home based portion of your business.
You should record and write your experiences and observances in detail to provide the information necessary.
You should like shopping and completing reports if you hope to become a first-rate Mystery Shopper.
All too often, Mystery Shopping Company schedulers have cancellations by unreliable shoppers. This leaves very little time to re-schedule the ‘Shop’.
Rescheduling, rearranging and reorganizing shops, no doubt, becomes additional work and exasperating when it occurs repeatedly by the same person.
Once a scheduler recognizes habitual cancellations and postponements the Shopper is no longer offered assignments or allowed to access the boards to sign up for future jobs at their site.
It is most important when you sign up to complete a ‘Shop’, you carry out your responsibility.
Occasionally, one expects an emergency; however, more than once or twice is poor quality workmanship in the Mystery Shopping field.

You can shop any leasing consultant. You do not need to reach the same consultant for the phone evaluation as the onsite.
Paperwork is very easy, mostly yes/no questions. Explain “no” answers but a narrative is not required.
We need just three or four lines giving your total impression of the visit and also of the phone call that is made AFTER the visit.
This call is the phone evaluation. You may not have shopped the location within the past 12 months.
Only serious shoppers need reply and only if you are sure you can do the shop(s) and complete by the due date.
Paperwork must be submitted within 24 hours of completion of each shop. I do assign on a first requested basis.
