$200 Insole Study (D155)LAST GROUPS!!!!
Do you have knee, hip or foot pain? If you do then here is a study for you.
The study is conducted in Carrollton, TX - Please feel free to forward to others who may qualify - Thank You, I appreciate your referrals!!!!
Visit 1: Report to clinic and rate their knee, foot and/or hip pain, and have their shoes examined for qualification. Qualified subjects will have their height and weighted measured for BMI calculations. Subjects may not qualify either by exam or because the study if full. Subjects that disqualify while at visit one, will receive a $10 disqualification check.
Visit 1B: Subjects report to the offices of Dr. Paul C. Peters, M.D. & Eugene E. Curry, M.D. They are located on Central (near Central & Walnut Hill) Subjects will have an free examination and free x-rays taken of their feet, knees or hips. Based on the x-ray results, if subjects disqualify they will be paid a total of $55.00. Qualified subjects will continue on with the study.
Visit 2: Subjects return to the clinic (with their approved shoes) to complete a questionnaire, walk around the clinic for 1 minute without the insoles and to rate their pain. Based on their level of pain, subjects will have their insoles assigned and fitted into a pair of approved shoes, but the clinic will keep the insoles until the next visit.
Visit 3: Subjects return to the clinic with their dairy and having worn their assigned shoes for at least the assigned time that day.
They will rate their pain after walking around in the clinic for 1 minute. Based on their level of pain, subjects will insert their insoles, walk around for 1 minute and rate their pain.
Visits 4 - 7: Subjects return to the clinic having worn their assigned shoes for at least the assigned time that day and fill out a questionnaire.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Males or females age 45 or older
General good health
Have knee hip and/or foot pain.
Most people who have pain in that area are probably suffering from arthritis. There are two types of arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid. Osteoarthritis is the most common and the least worse of the two. Subjects do not have to have an official diagnosis from their doctor. Osteoarthritis of the knees, feet, or hips, and currently still have pain in one or more of those areas.(Pain must not exceed 9 on a scale of 1-10.)
BMI of less than or equal to 39 (include your height and weight and I will look that up for you)
Shoe sizes: Males: between 8 and 13 / Females: between 6 and 10
willing and able to wear the shoe insoles in the appropriate shoes for a minimum of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for the duration of
the study
Walk a minimum of 30 minutes (cumulative) throughout the course of a
day while completing daily activities
DISQUALIFICATIONS:
Noticeable limp and/or one leg shorter than the other
Need a cane or walker to help you walk
Participated in any study in past 90 days
Employed by a company that makes pharmaceutical drugs or devices or cosmetics or a household member of an employee of such a company.
Occupation or lifestyle that is mainly sedentary in nature
Any condition that would make study participation inappropriate.
Females, pregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant or are of child bearing potential and who are not protecting themselves from pregnancy
Wear a shoe that is smaller than your correct shoe size
Have diabetic neuropathy, diabetic ulcers, or other sores stemming from diabetes on your feet
Have any condition or health issues that could potentially cause pain in your assigned area (knee, hip, feet) other than osteoarthritis
History of major surgery in either lower extremity within the past year. (Hip to foot.)
Circulatory problems or lack of sensation in your feet or any foot problems that would make an insole uncomfortable or inappropriate.
Wear a physician-prescribed orthotic device, prescription shoes or back brace? (Subjects must not have worn a physician prescribed orthotic device within the past 30 days.) Suffer from excruciating pain
Have severely painful toe or foot conditions (ex: bunions, warts, severely painful corns and/or calluses, overlapping toes, collapsed arch, warts, blisters or ingrown toenails or lesions on the bottom of your feet.)
Must bring 3-5 pairs of shoes to the clinic for approval. (If you bring athletic shoes, please bring 2 of the other types of shoes: causal, or dress or work shoe.) Only approved shoes can be worn with the shoe inserts. Must agree to wear socks or hosiery with the insoles and to all visits. (Subjects are NOT allowed to wear the study product with bare feet.)
Agree not to wear any other shoe insert/insole for the duration of the study, or any NEW shoes. (shoes must be "broken in".)
Shoes that are acceptable can be dress, casual, athletic or work shoes. The heel can not be higher than 1.5 inches. Must be closed toe and closed heel and closed sides
The following shoes are NOT acceptable: sandals, open toe, sides or heel, heels higher than 1.5 inches.
Note from Clinic: Please instruct subjects to bring 3-5 pairs of shoes with them for Visit 1. Only 10% of subjects will be approved to wear athletic shoes, so please tell subjects the more pairs of shoes they bring the better their chances of qualifying for this study.
Compensation: $200 total
